The Body Of Christ

“But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.” (1 Corinthians 12:18)

Isn’t the human body amazing? Each part is interconnected and dependent on one another to function as one entity to keep you healthy and active. If you’ve ever had a health problem or an injury you know how important each part of your body can be to your overall well-being. Even a seemingly insignificant ligament can cripple the whole body if injured.

I love how the Apostle Paul describes the church here as a body. Just like our human bodies, the Church is an incredible living organism made up of all of God’s children.  Each of us has a part to play, a role to fulfill and gifts to share. He knit you together and uniquely created you and places you in the body as He chooses. Trusting God to place you in a family of believers means you have to hear God’s voice and obey.

There’s only one person who’s perfect – and He’s the One who created you, and has given you everything you need for life and godliness. He has a purpose and a plan for your life. When we trust Him when it comes to where He places us in His family, realize it’s not about us and place our gifts in His hands, He is able to use us for His Kingdom. And there is no greater calling.

Prayer: God I praise You for Your Church. I trust You to place me in a body of believers where I can use my gifts to build others up and reach people for Your Kingdom. Amen.
