The Anchor of the Word

“Keep this Book of the Law on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.” (Joshua 1:8)

Before God tells Joshua to meditate, He instructs him to keep the law on his lips. We call this “confession.” It’s an agreement. Intentionally leaning into God’s Word through confession is the choice to agree with God. As you confess His Word you train your thoughts, emotions, and attitudes to agree with what God’s spoken in His Word.

It’s completely natural to feel emotions as we go through our day. God made us that way! But the enemy would love nothing more than to pull our gaze off our Father and spend time focusing on the circumstances and challenges around us. When fear, anger, discouragement and worry creep in, choose to agree with the truth and promises He’s given us. Something powerful happens when we say out of our mouths what God has declared in His Word and begin to build up faith in our hearts.

In fact, at Milestone we believe this so important, we developed “The Living Word” resource for you to quickly access what the Bible has to say about life’s most pressing issues. If you haven’t already, I’d encourage you to pick one up and keep with you as you navigate life’s challenges! When everything around you starts shaking, make the choice to anchor yourself to the unshakeable Word of God. Once you see how it changes you, you’ll never go back.

Prayer: Father, I praise you for the promises you’ve given me in Your Word. Help me speak aloud and stand on these truths when difficult situations come my way today. Amen.
